World Conservation Union
As the world’s largest environmental knowledge network, the Union has helped over 75 countries to prepare and implement national conservation and biodiversity strategies.
They are organizing the World Conservation Congress in Barcelona, Spain October 5-14, 2008. Part of this Congress is the World Conservation Forum: Climate change may soon accelerate beyond our power to avert catastrophic consequences. We must set limits to the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gasses. Setting and meeting such a target is politically and practically difficult, but essential. Besides mitigating the impacts of climate change and reducing emissions, we also need adaptation strategies that reduce risks, allow species to migrate, and keep future management options open.
