Many advocates of clean air, water & energy are up at the Capitol monotiring the activities of the various Interim Committees. This presents a rare opportunity for us to network without extra scheduling and travel.
BACKGROUND -- Between the regular Legislative Session (45 days Jan-Mar) the Legislature meets once a month to take testimony, receive reports, review proposed legislation, and generally conduct a great deal of the business of government. Interim is a great opportunity for citizens to familiarize themselves with the Legislature and provides an opportunity for talking to Legislators about issues that we care about.
This month the various Interim committees will be choosing which issues they wish to study this year.
Natural Resources, Agriculture, & Environment http://www.le.state.ut.us/asp/interim/Commit.asp?Year=2008&Com=INTNAE will consider Utah's Air Conservation Act - Sunset Review. Cheryl Heying, Dir of DAQ will be testifying. Public Utilities & Technology http://www.le.state.ut.us/asp/interim/Commit.asp?Year=2008&Com=INTPUT will review Utah's power generation mix and renewable energy zones.
